Description
El lienzo representa la despedida de Cayo Sempronio Graco (en latín Caius Sempronius Gracchus; 154 a. C. - 121 a. C.) de su familia. Fue un destacado político populista romano del siglo II a. C., perteneciente a una de las más ricas familias de Roma, los Sempronio Graco. Fue hijo de Tiberio Sempronio Graco y de Cornelia, hermano de Tiberio Sempronio Graco, además de primo de Publio Cornelio Escipión Emiliano. Las reformas políticas, judiciales y económicas que emprendió provocaron el asesinato de Cayo Sempronio Graco y de miles de sus partidarios en el año 121 a. C.
