An ovitrap used to monitor the presence of the Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus in the Swiss canton of Ticino. Ovitraps are also used to monitor the yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti.
Dry eggs from the Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus, found on the wooden paddle of an ovitrap. Immersing them in water will rehydrate the eggs and the larvae will hatch.
