English: The Ancon was a side-wheel steamship in Pacific coastal service 1873-1889. She was particularly notable for Alaska service, carrying notable early visitors including William Partridge, Albert Bierstadt, and Eliza Ruhamah Skidmore. She was wrecked at Loring, Alaska August 1889 without loss of life. The 1873 construction date is shown in US registration records, but Lewis & Dryden report that she had an earlier career as a coal hulk and was rebuilt as a steamship at San Francisco in 1873 (p371).
