English: Constellation Argo Navis is an ancient constellation, listed by Ptolemy. The constellation was split up beginning in the 18th century until it was eventually retired in 1930 by the IAU. The area of the sky is now occupied by the 3 directly derived constellations Carina, Puppis, Vela as well as the constellation Pyxis.
