Bijapur (Kannada: ಬಿಜಾಪುರ ) is one of the 30 districts of Karnataka, India. Bijapur is the district headquarter. The city of Bijapur was established in the 10th-11th centuries by the Chalukyas of Kalyani and was referred as Vijayapura ("City of victory"), later being referred as Vijapur or Bijapur.
