The Cascade Tunnel is at Stevens Pass and cuts through the Cascade Mountains of Washington State for approimately 8 miles. There were two tunnels: the original one was opened in 1900 and was abandoned. The present tunnel, built by the Great Northern Railway and began in 1925, was opened in 1929 and continues to be used for rail traffic.
