English: Chatoyancy is an optical effect, where a luminous streak of light appears to move across the surface when the material is moved. Tiger's eye, hawk's eye and cymophane (cat's-eye chrysoberyl) are all gemstones named for the effect, although it occurs in many materials, including wood. Also known as cat's-eye and milk-and-honey effect.
