English: The Codex Mendoza — an Aztec codex created in the 1540s in New Spain, two decades after the 1521 Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. Commissioned by the King of Spain, it describes pre-conquest Aztec society, in Aztec pictograms and Spanish text. It is presently held at the Bodleian Library in Oxford as part of the John Selden collection, with the shelfmark MS. Arch. Selden. A. 1.
