English: The Cosumnes River is the last remaining free-flowing river in the Central Valley of California. The river flows from the central Sierra Nevada, through the northern San Joaquin Valley, to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta tidelands. The river, via its confluence into the Mokelumne River, is a tributary of the San Joaquin River. The Cosumnes River Preserve protects 46,000 acres (190 km2) acres of its wetland and riparian woodland habitats.
