English: Cromartyshire was a iron full-rigged ship built 1879 by Russell & Co Port Glasgow (yard No 19) for Thomas Law & Co, Glasgow. 1898 collided with the CGT liner La Bourgogne off the Newfoundland Banks. The La Bourgogne sank and resulting in the loss of 571 passengers and crew members of the liner. 1901 on a voyage from Leith to Port Elizabeth, the Cromartyshire was abandoned on fire off Mossel Bay, but subsequently retrieved. 1906 leaving Antofagasta to load at Iquique, on the 24th she went ashore and was wrecked at Tetus Point on Printabu Island.
Dimensions: length × beam × depth = 248.7 × 38.1 × 22.7 ft (75.8 × 11.6 × 6.9 m) and 1554 GRT.[1]
