- "At the time under consideration, King David IX (r. 746–62/1346–60) ruled in Georgia. During his reign, regular Ilkhānid coins were struck in Tiflīs. After the fall of the Ilkhānids, the coins discussed in this article were struck in Tiflīs, and in 759/1357–8 David IX commissioned coins in the name of Shaykh Uways Jalāyirid (nominal ruler of Georgia). Supposedly after 759/1357–8, David IX struck silver coins imitating the coins of Sulaymān with an additional Georgian letter Ⴃ ‘d’ (D. G. Kapanadze, Gruzinskaya numizmatika, Moscow: Izdatel’stvo Akademii Nauk SSSR, 1955, 74 nos. 123, 124; Ts. M. Gvaberidze, Monetnoe delo i denezhnoe obraschenie v Vostochnoy Gruzii XIV v. PhD diss., Tbilisi, 1983, 127–128), and copper coins with his own name داود’ Dāʾūd’ in the style of coins of Jihān Tīmūr (A. V. Akopyan, “K chteniyu legend na dvukh unikal’nïkh gruzinskikh monetakh,” in: Gosudarstvennïy Istoricheskiy muzey. Numizmaticheskie chteniya 2011 goda. Moskva, 21–22 noyabrya 2011 g.
