- East Turkestan independence movement of the Islamic Uyghur peoples. Before 1949, the movement was not only a Uyghur people's movement, but also includes a lot of other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang Province (now Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region), China. For example, the government of Second East Turkestan Republic (1944-1946) was constituted by almost all the ethnic minorities in Xinjiang Province, such as Uyghur, Kazak, Hui, Kirgiz, Mongolian, Xibe, Tajik, Uzbek, Manchu, Daur, Russian and Tatar. However, after 1949, this movement only includes and influences Uyghur people.
