Englefield Lodge is one of the oldest houses in Christchurch, built in the early 1850s. It was built by land commissioner William Brittan and has had several well-known owners subsequently, e.g. William Travers (MGA) and Edward Stephens (MLC). The building, listed as Category I by the NZHPT with registration number 1867, experienced significant damage in the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake.
