Deutsch: Das Episkop, (griechisch: auf, darauf sehen, schauen) ist ein optisches Gerät zur Projektion von primär undurchsichtigen Medien. Dabei wird die Vorlage beleuchtet und das diffus reflektierte Licht über einen Spiegel durch ein Objektiv auf die Bildwand – umgangssprachlich auch Leinwand – projiziert.

English: The episcope or opaque projector is an optical device which displays opaque materials by shining a bright lamp onto the object. A system of mirrors and imaging lenses is used to focus an image of the material onto a viewing screen. Because they must project the diffuse reflected light, opaque projectors require bright bulbs and large lenses.
