한국어: 소방간부후보생은 소방공무원임용령 제34조(시험실시권), 제38조(소방간부후보생 선발시험)에 근거하여 실시된 소방간부후보생 선발시험에 합격한 후 중앙소방학교 교육생으로 입교한 후 지방소방위로 임명되기 전까지의 신분을 가진자를 말한다. 1977년 소방간부후보생 제1기 46명을 배출한 이래 제23기에 이르기까지 소방간부후보생은 소방청을 비롯한 전국의 17개의 시도 소방행정관서에서 약 1,000명이 근무하고있다. 시험에 합격하면 1년간의 합숙교육과정을 이수하면서 각종소양과목, 실무공통과목, 전공과목, 화재진압훈련, 일반구조훈련, 산악, 수난구조훈련, 응급처치, 분기별 체력측정, 동아리활동, 생활체육, 현장실습, 산업시찰, 후보생축제 등 다양한 이론과 실무에 관한 학습과 문화를 익히는 기회를 거치게 된다.

English: After passing the entrance exam, fire cadets train and live together, and accumulate culture, theoretical and practical knowledge through various programs including theoretical courses, required practical skill courses, major courses, fire suppression, general rescue, mountain climbing, lifesaving, and first-aid training, quarterly physical examinations, club activities, sports, on-site training, industry observation, and festivals. Through all these, the cadets are developed into elites complete with top level intelligence, character and physique who are quick to respond when citizens are in need. Upon completion of the training and education period, these fire cadets are promoted to fire lieutenants.
