English: Fort Conraadsburg (also Fort Koenraadsburg) was constructed by the Dutch in 1637 on the St.Jago hill in Elmina. Hence also the name in precolonial times: "Fort St. Jago", "Fort São Tiago", "Fort Santiago" or similarly. It's not identical to the Fort São Jorge da Mina (English: "Saint George's Castle") in the vicinity. The single aim for the contruction of Fort Conraadsburg was the conquest of Fort São Jorge da Mina which was located in the distance of one cannon shot.
Português: Forte de São Tiago
