English: Do not confuse with the illuminator Giovanni di Francesco di Giovanni, active around the 1420s-1450s at the convent of Santa Maria degli Angeli in Florence.
Some critics identify the Master of Pratovecchio with Giovanni di Francesco "da Rovezzano", and in turn identify this as the same figure as Giovanni Francesco "del Cervelliera", a.k.a. Master of the Carrand Tryptych. However this is not universal, so the two groups of works have been categorised separately.
It is hard to be definitive since the two possible artists share the same cultural background. Works of the Maestro di Pratovecchio are nevertheless usually dated a little earlier than the ones of Giovanni del Cervelliera.Giovanni di Francesco
