English: The steel barque Gretchen Hartrodt was built in 1888 in Londonderry by J. C. Bigger for a owner from Liverpool with the name Cupica. 1.210 tons. The barque was bought in 1907 by Arthur Hartrodt and renamed Gretchen Hartrodt after his first daughter. 1911 the vessel was sold to a Norwegian company. Finally it flew the Canadian flag and was sunk by a German submarine in 1917 off the coast of England.[1][2]
