| Blanes is a municipality in the comarca of La Selva and in the province of Girona.
The territory of this comarca (territorial administration of the Generalitat de Catalunya) extends over two provinces (territorial administration of the Spanish State), of 26 municipalities, 25 belong to the province of Girona and one (Fogás de Tordera) belongs to the province of Barcelona. For this reason, the categories of the Selva region cannot be included in any of the provincial categories and the Blanes categories must be included in the regional categories and in the provincial categories to which it belongs.
