English: Inverness was a wooden (iron frames planket) barque. The vessel was built and launched in 1869 by Hall Russell & Co. Ltd Aberdeen for J & R Grant London. Dimensions: 180.4 × 32.1 × 19.1 ft (55 × 9.8 × 5.8 m), Gross Tonnage: 722 ton. The Inverness wrecked 20 Dec. 1896 on Japarica Bank, between Caete and Salinas [Brazil] on voayge London - Para [Belem - i.e. wrecked near mouth of River Amazon].[1]
