English: Johannes Wijnandus "Johan" Remkes (born in Oosterbroek (Groningen) on 15 June 1951) became a member of the Dutch House of Representatives in 1993, for the conservative liberal party VVD. From 1998 to 2002 he was a State Secretary in the Second cabinet of Wim Kok. In 2002 he became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior in the First Balkenende cabinet. Between 27 May 2003 he fulfilled this role in the second and third Balkenende cabinet and 22 February 2007.
Nederlands: Johannes Wijnandus (Johan) Remkes ( Zuidbroek (Groningen), 15 juni 1951) is een Nederlands politicus voor de Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD). Sinds 1 juli 2010 is hij de commissaris van de Koningin in Noord-Holland.
