The building is one of the oldest mansions in Luang Prabang. The structure was initially built in 1854 with traditional Lao architecture pattern and is currently protected by UNESCO as an important cultural relic. The house was initially built by Mr. Soudalod, a Laotian rhitozomist. He started a Laotian herb medicine shop here and cured many local residents. Since then the laocal people believed the house was a blessed lucky building.

The lucky house features typical traditional Lao architecture with pitch roofs, timber structure and cowhide-leather cobwork covered with lime motar. Most of the woodwork and columns are made of a rosewood called Mey Paw. In 2008 the building was reovated with traditional techniques under the supervision of UNESCO.
