Marsica is a historical-geographical region of western Abruzzo, central Italy. Its core encluted 37 municipalities in the province of L’Aquila (amongst which the most important is Avezzano), it borders with Eastern-Southern Lazio. The area takes its name from the Marsi, an Italic people extinct in the 2nd century C.E.
