English: Meditative Kabbalah, also called Ecstatic Kabbalah, is a branch of Jewish Kabbalah concerned with union with God through meditation on Jewish Names of God, the soul's ascent, and spiritual intentions (Kavanot) during prayer and Jewish observance. Meditation was central to early Jewish Merkabah (Chariot) mysticism, Abraham Abulafia's "Prophetic Kabbalah", alongside Isaac Luria's theosophical system, and in Hasidic Judaism's fervour (Deveikut) and leadership (Zaddik). Non-Jewish Hermetic Qabalah occult meditation should not be placed here, but in Category:Cabalism.
