English: Melkart was a prominent deity in Ancient Phoenicia and their colonies (including Carthage, and parts of Spain). He was sometimes compared to the Greek Herakles, and therefore is occasionally known as the 'Tyrian Hercules', referring to Tyre (a Phoenician City) and the Roman spelling of Herakles (Hercules).
