Italiano: La Nékyia ("evocazione dei morti") è il viaggio per mare che Ulisse fa fino ai confini del mondo, nella terra dei Cimmeri (una mitica terra oltre l'Oceano - collocata forse nell'estremo settentrione - perennemente avvolta dalle nebbie e dove non arriva mai il sole), dove egli potrà interrogare l'indovino Tiresia e incontrare le anime dei morti risalite dall'Erebo. Il testo attuale dell'Odissea - frutto di successivi ampliamenti - presenta una certa incongruenza fra la parte più antica dove erano le anime dei morti a risalire dall'Ade sulla terra, evocate da Ulisse con opportuni atti sacrificali e necromantici (Odissea XI, 23-36); e quella più recente dove, su ordine di Circe, è invece Ulisse a dover andare nella casa di Ade (Odissea X, 490, 512, 564-565).

English: The Nekyia ("evocation of the dead") is the sea voyage that Ulysses made to the ends of the world, the land of the Cimmerians (a mythical land across the ocean - perhaps located in the far north - perpetually enveloped in fog and where never comes the sun), where he will interrogate the seer Tiresias and meet the souls of the dead ascents Erebus.
