Deutsch: Newark-on-Trent ist eine Stadt im Osten Englands, heute zu Nottinghamshire gehörig, früher zu Lincolnshire. Im Jahre 2001 hatte sie 25.376 Einwohner zusammen mit dem eng verwachsenen Nachbarort Balderton 35.674. Die Stadt Newark in New Jersey (USA) wurde von Auswanderern aus dem englischen Newark gegründet.

Polski: Newark (również Newark-on-Trent) - niewielkie historyczne miasto o populacji około 25 tys. (2001) położone w hrabstwie Nottinghamshire w regionie East Midlands, nad rzeką Trent. Przez miasteczko przepływa także rzeka Devon, która wpada tu do Trentu. Newark położony jest na skrzyżowaniu rzymskiego traktu Fosse Way i średniowiecznego szlaku Great North Road (obecnie droga krajowa A1, która stanowi część europejskiej trasy E15). Pierwotnie miasto rozwinęło się dookoła istniejącego tu zamku Newark Castle (obecnie w ruinie) oraz rynku. Na początku było to centrum handlu wełny i tkanin, industrializacja rozpoczęła się w epoce wiktoriańskiej, później rozwinął się tu przemysł metalowy, cukrowniczy i browarnictwo. Newark był główny obozem rojalistów podczas angielskiej wojny domowej, który poddał się dopiero z rozkazu króla Karola I.
