English: A noria (, nā‘urā) is a machine activated by water power and used for lifting water into a small aqueduct, either for the purpose of irrigation or for the use in towns and villages or, in at least one known instance, to feed seawater into a saltern.
If the water lifting device is activated by animal power, it is generally called a sakieh (sakia, saqiya) and is categorized at Category:Sakieh
