English: Operation Castle was a series of six nuclear tests that the United States conducted in 1954 in the Bikini and Enewetak atolls in the Marshall Islands in 1954. The purpose of this series of tests was to validate the designs of a number of different thermonuclear weapons intended to be the first deployed U.S. thermonuclear bombs.
