English: The Oroville Dam is an earthfill embankment dam on the Feather River in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Northern California. The dam is the tallest in the United States and is located east of Oroville in Butte County. The dam was built in 1968 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers and is a key element of the California State Water Project. The dam impounds Lake Oroville, the second largest reservoir in California.
