English: Formerly the Dukes' palace, it become the palace of the Spanish governors in Lombardy, and eventually of the Viceroy of the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy and afterwards of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia. Hence its name ("Royal palace"). Its current aspect is due to neoclassical architect Giuseppe Piermarini.
