Images categorised here use periodic table classifications as set in the English wikipedia (enwiki). While the periodic table has a well-defined overall structure, some details can be set arbitrarily, depending on the properties observed. For example, the list of metalloids varies between sources. Also, there are editorial choices, for example, background legend colors used. The English wiki has made choices that are maintained throughout enwiki. Variants that are not used are described in applicable articles.

Metallicity categories (April 2018)[edit]

One outstanding feature is the classification of metallicity (metals-metalloids-nonmetals, their and subdivisions), together with its coloring scheme.

Group 3 constitution[edit]

Currently, a discussion is open in IUPAC about the constitution of group 3. Enwiki is showing the option that group 3 has these elements: scandium (Sc), ytterium (Y), lantanum (La), actinium (Ac). The remaining lanthanides and actinides have no group number.

Historical categories[edit]

Changes per April 2018

Per 25 April 2018, the 2013-scheme has been changed. Categories "polyatomic nonmetal" and "diatomic nonmetal" are removed (abandoned), and are replaced by category "reactive nonmetal". The 11 elements are all in this single category, illustrated with a (new, different) yellow color. Description is at :en:Talk:Nonmetal. The change was concluded here, an overview of the long and large discussions is here.

Abandoned per April 2018. Change is in nonmetal categories: polyatomic, diatomic into reactive nonmetals. Visually: the color green has disappeareed.
