The African elephant (Loxodonta africana) is the largest land mammal in the world and lives in different parts of the African continent. With their impressive size, long tusks and large ears, they are fascinating animals. They show complex social behaviour and are known for their strong family bonds. However, they are also highly threatened, mainly by poaching and habitat loss. Protective measures and the fight against illegal hunting and the ivory trade are crucial to ensure the survival of these majestic animals. |
