Information about the animal

The coati (Nasua nasua) is native to the forests and tropical regions of Central and South America. It is distinguished by its distinctive nose shape, which gives it its. Coatis have a characteristic coat pattern consisting of dark stripes on a light to grey-brown coat. They have an elongated build and a long, bushy tail. Their noses are long and flexible, giving them excellent olfactory abilities. These animals are omnivores and have a varied diet. They feed on fruits, berries, insects, small vertebrates and even carrion. Coatis are skilled climbers and can also move around on the ground, using their long nose to search for food. They usually live in small groups or family groups, are nocturnal and spend most of the day in tree hollows or in self-made nests. Coatis are known for their curious and playful behaviour. They also play a role in controlling insect populations. Although coatis are protected in some areas, they still face various threats, such as habitat loss, poaching and conflicts with humans. Protecting their habitats and promoting peaceful coexistence are crucial to ensure the long-term survival of these animals.
