English: Carmelite religious orders in the Roman Catholic Church (as distinguished from those in the Anglican/Episcopal church). There are many orders of Carmelites, both male and female; they are traditionally associated with St. Bertold of Mount Carmel (Bartoldus of Calabria). The main order is the Order of the Brothers of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Ordo Fratrum Beatissimæ Virginis Mariæ de Monte Carmelo, abbreviated O. Carm.). Other orders include the Discalced Carmelites (O.C.D. or O.C.D.S.). Some orders wear the brown scapular. For the names of many Carmelite orders, see en:Carmelite#See also.
