English: San Francisco City Hall, located in the two square blocks between Polk, Grove and McAllister Streets and Van Ness Avenue in the Civic Center neighborhood of San Francisco, California, was built in 1915 as a replacement for the previous City Hall, completed in 1899, which was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and fire. The current building was designed by Arthur Brown, Jr., of Bakewell & Brown, in the Beaux-Arts style, as part of the "City Beautiful" movement, and to anchor a revitalized Civic Center.
