English: Shiviti are meditative plaques used in some Jewish communities for contemplation of God's name. When used in the synagogue, they are placed to the right of the bimah (lectern), or on the vertical part of the amud (a lower lectern used in addition to the bimah in some synagogues), and to the right of the arc, so that the hazzan (cantor) can always see it.
