English: The Sierra Nevada is a mountain range that Is part of the Béticas range in Spain, specifically the Penibéticos. It extends through the central and southeast area of the province of Granada and through the southwest of the province of Almería. In 1986, it was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO and in 1999 much of its territory was declared a national park, due to its botanical, landscape and natural values.
Español: Sierra Nevada es un macizo montañoso perteneciente al conjunto de las Béticas, concretamente a los sistemas Penibéticos y se extiende por la zona centro-sureste de la provincia de Granada y parte del suroeste de la provincia de Almería (España). En 1986 fue declarada Reserva de la Biosfera por la UNESCO y en 1999 gran parte de su territorio fue declarado Parque Nacional por sus valores botánicos, paisajísticos y naturales.
