Silver dapple is a family of coat colors produced by the action of the silver (Z) gene. Horses are characterized by replacement of some or most black pigment with silver. The color is known in Icelandic horses, Morgan horses, several draft horse breeds, Rocky Mountain horses, Shetland ponies, Miniature horses, Welsh ponies, Finnhorse and Quarter Horses.
