English: This building, generally considered Seattle's first proper apartment house (later converted to shops) stood on Seattle's Second Avenue at the northeast corner of Marion Street, was built from September 1880 to mid-1881. George Stetson and J.J. Post were proprietors of the Seattle Planing Mill and would take up residence in the building upon its completion along with territorial governor Elisha P. Ferry, dry goods merchant Sam Frauenthal, and judge Thomas Burke and their families. Later known as the Rainier Block, it was demolished in 1919 for a 2-story office building also named the Rainier Building, which itself was razed with the rest of the block in the 1980s for the current Wells Fargo Center.
