English: Sunderland station is the main railway station in Sunderland. The current station buildings were completed in 1965 to the designs of the British Rail Architects' Department.

Since 2002 it has also been served by Tyne and Wear Metro services.

Since it was remodelled as part of the Metro extension from Pelaw to here and then on to South Hylton, the sation is arranged with a central island platform with each side divided into two platforms. Platforms 1 and 4 are at the northern end and are used by mainline services. Metro services use platforms 2 and 3 at the southern end.
