De Arte Natandi (The Art of Swimming) was the first treatise on Swimming published in the English Speaking World. It was written in Latin, by Everard Digby in 1587, and translated into English by Christopher Middleton in 1595. It was illustrated with woodblocks of the countryside, in which were inserted the swimming blocks, making 20 compositions in all
