- Located in the garden outside the Outpatients Unit at Selly Oak Hospital, in the Selly Oak district of southwest Birmingham, England.
- The cast bronze sculpture, based on "The Good Samaritan" parable, was commissioned and presented to the hospital by the Charles Henry Foyle Trust.
- The base of the statue is inscribed with lines from "A Correct Compassion", a 1951 poem by James Falconer Kirkup about a heart operation, dedicated to “to Mr Philip Allison, after watching him perform a Mitral Stenosis Valvulotomy in the General Hospital at Leeds”.
