Selection from 46 albums created by William Vaughn Tupper (1835–1898). They contain albumen print photographs (some hand-colored) that were taken or purchased during the Tupper family’s travels. Many of the photographs are annotated with Tupper's reactions, context and analysis. The albums are held by Boston Public Library and these high resolution scans were made and released by the Library.

Example detail from Volume 26 (Lower Egypt) which includes Tupper's notes on the obelisk of Heliopolis next to a photograph dated 1891-1894.
