English: Wildtype bay horses are bay horses, but their legs are not black up to the hock/knee. The shin between pastern and hock/knee is brown, and while some wildtype bays have black on the knees/hocks, some only have black on the pastern. Wildtype bay is caused by the proposed A+ allele of the Agouti gene, or "bay gene", of the horse.
