William Grainge was a historian and writer from Harrogate, North Riding of Yorkshire, England. For more information, see William Grainge. He was born in Dishforth, North Yorkshire, then two months later his family moved to a farm called Castiles near Kirkby Malzeard, where he grew up. He spent some years in Boroughbridge as a solicitor's clerk, and the latter part of his life in Harrogate where he ran a bookshop.
