- English: Windcatcher — A traditional wind tower structure seen rising above ancient, historical, and contemporary buildings in the Middle East, particularly at Ancient Persian sites: in Iran, Bahrain, and Dubai. This tall air scoop element provides natural air conditioning, bringing the moving cooler air of higher breezes down into and through a structure. The air is frequently first directed over underground Qanat water systems, cooling it further. This traditional ventilation system has been used to create soothing interior air qualities, in a hot external desert climates, with sustainable 'low-energy technology' techniques for centuries.
