idiomatic phrase that refers to exploitation
English: "Playing the woman card" refers to bringing up a woman's gender as an intended positive factor to promote her aspirations. This may rely on so-called beneficial sexist stereotypes like women being assumed more prudent, peaceful, and altruistic than men (in turn assumed more capricious and broad-stroke, and preferring competition to co-operation), or on the novelty factor of having a woman in a position previously held by men only. Used in a pejorative sense, "playing the woman card" is an accusation of the same, whenever a woman's gender is mentioned in professional context, especially by herself.
