English: The Yangshan Quarry (Yangshan Bei Cai, i.e. Yangshan Stele Material) is the place where a giant stone stele, to be used to commemorate the late Hongwu Emperor, was being cut during the Yongle Emperor's reign. Due to its gigantic size, the stele was never completed, moved, or installed. Its 3 sections - the base, the stele proper, and the crown - remain in the quarry, almost 600 years late. These days, walking trail connect the quarry itself with the "Ming Cultural Village", sort of a small theme park at the entrance to the site (and within the same entry-controlled area).
Русский: Каменоломня Яншань, к востоку от Нанкина, где в начале XV века, при императоре Юнлэ, пытались высечь гигантскую стелу.
