Naming Convention same as ships. EG: "Category:1950s Aircraft"

Ships generally are dated by first commissioning, since a ship launch could simply be an empty hull with the important technology (the armor and the guns) perhaps not yet developed.

However, with aircraft, delivery dates can be pressed out due to changing requirements or bureaucracy and do not reflect the technology. The F/A-18 first flew in 1978. Is it a 1970's plane? IMO I think this is stretching things, but I could go either way.

I think I will go with delivery date. Mak 23:43, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
